The noughties were all about curves, but that look is so 2009. These days, the curves are not enough, and more and more celebs and fitness experts are taking the look to the next level: the perfect sphere.

This exciting body trend is long overdue, as fitness expert Shannon Buchanan says: ‘Women are tired of living up to ridiculous beauty standards, such as the painfully thin look highlighted by fashion models, and are not looking for big bulky muscles. This feminine shape is a natural extension of the curvy movement, and really highlights a woman’s natural construction.’

It may seem like this is just another piece of beauty pressure to live up to, but with a few smart lifestyle changes you’ll be able to start your journey to this healthy and sexy shape without even noticing!

Fitness

Changing your body shape doesn’t come without a change in habits, but you know what they say – a change is as good as a rest, and it just so happen that this rest comes in the form of a brutal fitness regime!

If you want the gorgeous spherical shape that characterises this trend, then you’re going to have to start building some serious muscle in targeted areas.

Shannon adds, ‘The areas you’re really going to have to focus on are the sides, front and back of the torso. Building size in these areas will help to give that sought-after curved shape in the right places. Anything that compresses the limbs and widens the neck is also going to help you achieve the shape of a perfect full moon.’

Diet

This is an area you can’t neglect. Fats – both good and bad – will help to build out your stomach area and upper thighs, while sugar in all forms will help with rapid gain in the midsection.

If you’re struggling to take in the 8,000 daily calories needed to get you on the way, nutritionist Hayley Evans has a few tips to get you on the right path. She says, ‘You may be used to eating three medium-sized meals a day, but who says that’s a rule you have to stick to? Try spreading your food intake into 10 or 15 absolutely gigantic meals to get the calories you need.

‘There are also tricks you can use to convince yourself you’re still hungry. If you eat from a regular dinner plate, try taking your meals on a serving platter to convince your mind – and stomach – that you’ve eaten less.

‘And if you’re craving carbs, instead of reaching for a piece of fruit try picking up an entire family-sized lasagne instead.’

If you’re prone to filling up easily, she also suggests glugging litre after litre of soft drinks or alcoholic beverages to get your calories up to the right level.

Not everyone will be able to achieve the perfect sphere with ease – if you have a naturally boyish figure or hourglass shape, it’s going to be a bit trickier to manage, but all is not lost.

There are a few styling tips you can use to get the desired look without all the hard work. Subtle padding in the right places can help, but, if that’s a step too far, then optical illusions are your best friend.

Flat shoes will help to make your legs appear shorter, while horizontal stripes that widen around the midsection will give the illusion of a globe-shaped stomach. A roll neck jumper with a particularly wide neck will go some way to making you look as though your head is melting into your shoulders for a sexy, sought after look.

The bottom line is to have fun – seeing how you have control over your body with just a few new lifestyle or fashion choices can be an exciting and empowering experience, and your crush is sure to appreciate the new you! So what are you waiting for, ladies? Go forth and conquer!

POLO STARTED OUT AS A FARMHAND IN RURAL WELSHTOWN WHERE SHE MILKED COWS AND FROLICKED IN THE ROLLING GREEN HILLS – AN EXPERIENCE THAT LED TO SEVEN YEARS WRITING FOR THE FARMER'S BUGLE. SHE STAYED WITH THE PUBLICATION UNTIL A HEATED DEBATE OVER THE HYPHENATION OF BATTERY FARMING CUT SHORT HER CAREER. REALISING EARLY INTO THE ROW THAT SHE WAS WRONG, SHE NEVERTHELESS CHOSE TO ARGUE IT OUT TO THE BITTER END IN AN ATTEMPT TO SAVE FACE. THIS PUT HER ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE FARMING PUBLICATION COMMUNITY – A GROUP NOTORIOUS FOR HOLDING A GRUDGE – AND ENSURED SHE COULD NEVER WORK IN THE INDUSTRY AGAIN. HER ONLY RECOURSE WAS TO MOVE INTO THE LESS COMPETITIVE WOMEN'S LIFESTYLE ARENA, FINALLY ARRIVING ON GLAMOURLESS'S DOORSTEP, WHERE SHE MOSTLY WRITES ABOUT FITNESS AND FUN NEW DIETS.
